TLC Outreach Project is a non-profit, welfare organisation, registered with the Department of Social Development. Our purpose is to care for destitute youth at risk. (reg no: 021-126)

Working together towards a brighter future

Our society is faced with a multitude of challenges as a result of human ignorance and neglect as well as natural threats. But, for every one of these problems, there is a solution. This is why good people of TLC Projects are working tirelessly to solve these problems to build a better society for all who live in it.

TLC Projects are currently working in six settlements where they have started to build up the lives of many families and children through feeding projects, educational programmes and social outreaches.

Since 1996 our community based project has been rehabilitating the children scattered on our streets because of abuse, addiction and extreme poverty many of whom have found their way to the streets in search of a safe haven. Over the past few years our project has extended the reach of our preventative program to help meet the needs of informal settlement children at risk. By networking with other organisations and our local police station together, we have united these diverse settlements together under a blanket of love and care.

We operate from a practically-centered perspective and work closely with the youth at risk in these cluster communities to offer relief and rehabilitation to the children often facing multifaceted levels of abuse.

Our main objective is the facilitation of the preventative programmes in the settlements. Educare play rooms and youth cabins have been erected by TLC to accommodate on site programmes. Day and night outreaches target children under the age of 18 living on the streets. The main goals of which, are to move them to a place of safety or re unite them with a family member. TLC's counselling arm lends itself to sexual, physical and emotional restoration. Employment and education opportunities are also provided where possible.

The foundations of our intervention policy are the programmes of family reunification and early intervention, cemented together by counselling and skills development as a means of social upliftment.

All settlements are fed on their allocated days and basic needs of shelter and clothing are also attended to.TLC engages these communities in regular education, motivation and social upliftment programmes and exciting events such as fun at the beach, various sporting activities and movie outings which are hosted by TLC throughout the year.

STREET CHILDREN ARE A REALITY THAT SHOULD CONCERN US AS MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. USUALLY THE VICTIMS OF POVERTY, VIOLENCE, HOMELESSNESS AND HUNGER, FOR THEM, LIFE ON THE STREET IS OFTEN NO WORSE THAN THE LIFE THEY LEFT BEHIND.

Huis Zonnekus

Background:-

Huis Zonnekus is a Non Profit Organization with the Registration Number 011-891-NPO given by the Department of Social Development.

Huis Zonnekus assists with the vast needs of the elderly in the local community. The primary aim is to provide a home for the elderly with a homely and friendly atmosphere.
This includes floor assistance as well as medical assistance when their health deteriorates as well as those suffering from other illnesses. Huis Zonnekus accommodates Alzheimer patients who are constantly in need of supervision and care.

The areas that Huis Zonnekus delivering their services to are mainly Melkbos strand, Blauwberg strand, Table View, Milnerton, Edgemead, Bothasig, Brooklyn & Ysterplaat in the Western Cape. This is not limited to just these areas, as we have residents representing various other parts of the country as well.

Reason for funds:-

If for some crisis reason we may need urgent maintenance to our buildings with great financial implications we will be in trouble. Funds are needed for urgent maintenance / replacements for the security, roof, and window frames which could not be budgeted for.

This writing is to apply for any assistance and we would like to attach our wish list as well.

The majority of the residents at Huis Zonnekus poor and are dependent on a government pension (currently R1080-00 per month). It is common knowledge that the government has cut subsidies and therefore even when a resident is in frail care (or group 3 as is known) the subsidy of R1700-00 (maximum grant) does not cover our unit cost of R2900-00 (two thousand nine hundred rand). Very few of these cases have families that are able to pay the difference needed. Currently we give a home to 97 elderly people of whom approximately 80% are in frail care. The government stipulates that we need to accommodate at least 60% of residents that are in the sub economical range to be eligible to receive a grant. Our figure currently stands at close to 91%.

In the meantime the government has also stopped providing nappies and linen covers without prior notification. This cost amounts to approximately R10500-00 per month which was also not budgeted for.

Vision:-

Together we shine.
Saamwerk bring sonskyn.

Manager’s goals:-

·         To bring about a positive change in the financial position of Huis Zonnekus,
